I just want to mention that this is fanfiction, for anyone who stumbles upon it and thinks I'm stalking Benedict Cumberbatch and staging terrorist attacks. !-)

Scotland Is Cold

So Galloway Forest was ruled out. Actually, it was the only one able to be, since the remainder of the forests resided over towns that were constantly pummeled by brutal coastal 'breezes'. One of them, one of the forests on the Black Isle, was literally on the coast, like it was properly full of sand. I recommended that they travel next to North Berwick, where I expected they'd have another visitor...

Shannen motioned to the little post with a handwritten '52' etched on the side.
 "That's our spot," she mumbled.
As they dragged the tent out of the cavernous bag, the wind causing their hair to act as blindfolds, they passed the time with irl fangirling.
"Jesus," Eliza moaned, "This thing's heavy. I'm exercising massive amounts of effort not to derp right now."
 "Oh God, the Freeman derp."
 "Yours is better."
"No, our youtube icon is the epitome of derps."
"Jo said that was the first picture she saw of you."
She giggled, surprising herself by literally laughing the syllables 'haha', "Aw-kward."
"We should have used the derp during the hate."
"Yeah, it would have silenced the peasants."
"How dare they claim they used to be part of the fandom?!"
"The cheek! Whoa!" Shannen stumbled backwards, avoiding a fall with the agility of a ninja, the suspension from the poles juddering into a cartoon style vibration.
The campsite seemed to be universally sniggering at them, as if these newbies had no chance of mastering the art of tent-construction. And it was an art. There was technique, dedication and even a hint of beauty involved in setting up the complex structure. The route they'd taken to get to North Berwick had revolved mainly around rail travel and so they'd discerned rather a lot of information about where they were heading over the course of the journey.

Jo: They have a really cool fair on their beach, but I'm not sure when it's on.
Is it cold?
Jo: Extremely. Its right next 2 the seaside so the wind is quite simply bracing!
Sounds awesome
I'll bet it's not that bad

It hadn't taken long for this conversation to resort to fangirling, at which point Ben quietly excused himself, and eventually Eliza and Shannen concluded our reminiscing as they clipped the final hook of Eliza's 'bedroom' into place. As they emerged from the tent, Shannen backed into something, someone.
 "Hello," Rebecca greeted them.
